Concord Monitor Article About Ron Paul

Many awakenings: Ron Paul is as surprised as anyone at the near messianic zeal he inspires

By SARAH LIEBOWITZ
Monitor staff
September 30. 2007 12:07AM

Ron Paul doesn't understand his own success. He didn't know his calls for an end to the Federal Reserve and the Department of Education would draw cheers, that his anti-income tax, anti-foreign intervention and libertarian message would resonate. He was reluctant to run for the Republican presidential nomination, he said yesterday: He was convinced it would take another "generation for education" before his message - rooted in Paul's reading of the Constitution - gained traction.

"I have been just dumbfounded about what's happening," Paul said yesterday in Manchester's Veteran's Park, where roughly 500 sup

porters gathered for a glimpse of the presidential candidate. "I've been talking this way for 30 years. But something, something special is happening." Click here for more.

Paul's call: end the IRS

Paul's call: end the IRS

By GARRY RAYNO
New Hampshire Union Leader Staff
8 hours, 24 minutes ago

Manchester – Calls to abolish the Internal Revenue Service and repeal the Constitutional amendment that established the federal income tax drew loud applause yesterday for Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul.

The Texas Congressman drew an eclectic mix of more than 500 supporters -- young and old, Libertarians and anti-war Democrats, independents and conservative Republicans -- who cheered his message of limited government, low taxes, free markets, bringing the troops home from Iraq, and returning to a monetary policy based on the gold standard.

Paul said the gathering at Veterans Park wasn't about him, but about his message -- which, he said, has been resonating with more and more people.

"Something very significant is happening in this country today. The paradigm is shifting away from government controlling our lives by force," he said. "People are sick and tired of what's happening and want to control (their) own lives." Click here for more.

Comment About Ron Paul

Anyone see the PBS All American forum last night? Guess those wacko 3% of the country somehow "spammed in" all that applause, cheering, and chanting his name at the end of the forum? lol, If anyone heard the crowd last night they know what Im talking about...its getting to the point where huge unpaid crowds are cheering for this man everywhere he goes and after everything he says, but the MSM still keeps its blinders on and insists "these people dont exist." This WILL be a revolution, in my opinion, in that I honestly see (with as little bias as I can muster) Paul doing VERY well in the primaries if not winning...and the media having to eat their words- well, they kind of already have to. Provided that happens, Hillary or Obama will have a serious challenge on their hands instead of a pro-war punching bag, and if you ask me, he could very possibly beat either one of them in a GE. Ron Paul vs. the Neocon Cowards

by Dr. James N. Herndon

The Ron Paul Revolution is, among other things, a revolution to reclaim our original American spirit, a spirit mangled, at least since the time of Lincoln, by the passive acceptance, and tacit encouragement, of state-sponsored mass-murder for profit.

With God’s help, it is a revolution that will come to pass.

Quest for Freedom

By Elaine Brown

Where do we stand today in our country in the matter of freedom? Do we even know what freedom is today? The founders of our country knew, but it took them a couple of years to realize it.

After escaping from Britain and the rules of the king, it took those brave pilgrims some time to fully realize and be able to appreciate the fact that they had no one to whom to answer, save their own conscience and common law (common sense). What joy to know this kind of liberty, which they had never before experienced. They could now conduct themselves as freely as they wished, as long as they honored their contracts and did no harm to another. This is the total of common law; this is the law by which the people, the sovereigns, of this country are to abide, the law we were intended to obey.

Ron Paul Front Page Boston Globe Story 9/27/07

This is a FRONT PAGE story (though it is below the fold) in [yesterday's] Boston Globe - circulation ~ 450,000 - written by Lisa Wangsness. It is a great story, and also mentions me and the Daily Paul! But what is really great is that it accurately depicts what is going on. Boston is a very liberal town - and the article showcases how many people - and especially Democrats and former Democrats - support Ron Paul simply because we're tired of voting for the "lesser of two evils." Great story. Thank you Lisa!

Read it here: Ron Paul in the Boston Globe - Paul's Their All

You may have to sign in to get to the story (I did) - it only takes a second - two short screens of data to fill out. So hit the story - forward it around - they're tracking this, no doubt. And the Globe is owned by the NY Times - if they see some positive feedback, maybe the Times will pick the story up, or run its own.

3Q Fundraising Goal Upped to $1,000,000 by 9/30 Midnight!!!

See Ron Paul's 9/27/2007 letter on the updated, $1,000,000 goal below. Can we do it? Of course we can!!!

Message from Ron Paul: Let's Do It! (9/27/07)

Frankly, I’m floored. And very, very grateful. Our $500,000 online fundraising goal for the end of the quarter was reached so fast it took my breath away. But we can't stop now. So I am raising the bar to $1 million by midnight, September 30th. I am so grateful for all you have done. Would you help me with this?

Whenever I face a hit piece on tv, or a smear in a newspaper column, I remember my secret weapon: you. In establishment politics, people make campaign contributions because they want something: a contract, a subsidy, a special-interest deal. But the thousands of people who contribute to this campaign want no favors from big government -- which must come at the expense of their fellow citizens, and sometimes our soldiers' lives. They want only what is their God-given, natural, and constitutional right: their freedom.

What a difference from the other campaigns. What a refreshing change from politics as usual. What a sign of the reborn American freedom that can be ours, and our children's, and our grandchildren's.

Aggressive wars, income taxes, national IDs, domestic spying, torture regimes, secret prisons, Federal Reserve manipulation -- we don't have to take it any more. Click here for more.

My Wife Faces Homeland Security

Part 1: Homeland Security Presidential Directive #12

“Yeah, that's it. Just relax.
Have another drink, few more pretzels, little more MSG.
Turn on those Dallas Cowboys on your TV.
Lock your doors. Close your mind.
It's time for the two-minute warning.

Welcome to 1984
Are you ready for the third world war?!?
You too will meet the secret police
They'll draft you and they'll jail your niece”

--Dead Kennedys, "We've Got a Bigger Problem Now

Have you been PERSONALLY affected by the Bush Administration’s erosion of our Constitutional Rights? Well, now my family is coming face to face with a direct assault on the Bill of Rights, an assault on my wife’s rights. This assault comes directly from Bush with no input from Congress whatsoever.

Homeland Security Presidential Directive Number 12

This Presidential Directive is all about choice, or so they say. One of those twisted, Orwellian “choices” that isn’t a choice. My wife’s choice is she can either sign over to the Federal Government the right to investigate every aspect of her life (including fingerprinting, credit check, medical records, character references, etc.) or she can “voluntarily” choose to not be allowed entry into the building wherein she works. The choice is hers. The rights that are being lost are those of every single American citizen.

A Pandemic of Police Brutality

And They Usually Get Away With It

By PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS

Bush's "war on terror" quickly became Bush's war on Iraqi civilians. So far over one million Iraqi civilians have lost their lives because of Bush's invasion, and four million have been displaced. Iraq's infrastructure is in ruins. Disease is rampart. Normal life has disappeared.

Self-righteous Americans justify these monstrous crimes as necessary to ensure their own safety from terrorist attack. Yet, Americans are in far greater danger from their own police forces than they are from foreign terrorists. Ironically, Bush's "war on terror" has made Americans less safe at home by diminishing US civil liberty and turning an epidemic of US police brutality into a pandemic.

The only terrorist most Americans will ever encounter is a policeman with a badge, nightstick, mace and Taser. A Google search for "police brutality videos" turns up 2,210,000 entries. Some entries are foreign and some are probably duplications, but the number is so large that a person could do nothing but watch police brutality videos for the rest of his life. A search on "You Tube" alone turned up 2,280 police brutality videos. PrisonPlanet has a selection of the most outrageous recent cases.

Police brutality has crossed the line from using excessive force against a resisting Rodney King to unprovoked gratuitous violence against persons offering no resistance, such as the elderly, women, students, and elected officials. Americans are not safe anywhere from police. Police attack Americans in university libraries, in public meetings, and in their own homes.

Ron Paul and Libertarian Party Campaigns: Comparing Apples and Oranges

Many people are asking “Who is Ron Paul?” People rarely asked “Who is Michael Badnarik?”

Because of my work on Libertarian Party presidential campaigns (and at the national LP headquarters), I’m often asked for an assessment of Ron Paul’s presidential bid. The short answer is that he’s seeking a GOP nomination, so it’s like mixing apples and oranges. However, there are some distinct similarities between the two.

Benton said the campaign sent out an e-mail announcing the initiative, which is also prominently featured on Paul’s website, at noon on Monday. A little more than a day later $170,000 had been raised, with additional donations coming in at a rate of a little more than $10,000 every hour.

IRS Drops Investigation over 'Illegal' Sermon

CBNNews.com - The IRS is dropping it's two year investigation into a liberal southern California church for allegedly violating its tax-exempt status. The agency gave no specific reasons.

As CBN News has reported, the former rector for All Saints Episcopal Church, Rev. George F. Regas, preached a sermon saying that Jesus would tell the president his Iraq polices had failed.

Church Wants IRS to Apologize

A church is demanding a correction and an apology from the Internal Revenue Service after the IRS closed a two-year examination of its tax-exempt status that had been prompted by a guest sermon delivered on the eve of the 2004 presidential election.

The IRS began investigating All Saints Church of Pasadena, Calif., after it featured a sermon titled "If Jesus Debated President Bush and Senator Kerry" by the church's rector emeritus, Rev. Dr. George F. Regas, on Oct. 31, 2004. The following June, the IRS informed the church that it was being investigated for violating its nonprofit status by intervening in a political campaign. Earlier this month, the IRS told the church that it would be allowed to retain its tax-exempt status, even though there had been a violation.

Remarks on the Meaning of "Income"

by Jim Davies

Amendment 16 says only: "The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration" and so fails to define the term "income". A whole mess of confusion has followed - and even preceded its apparent 1913 ratification.

Its other major terms are defined elsewhere in the Constitution; for example "congress" is the subject of the whole of Article 1 and "apportionment" is explained in Article 1 Section 9. But "income" itself, by far the most important term used, is not. Given that Amendment 16 is said to be the clause enabling the whole of the trillion dollar a year "income tax", that omission may be highly significant.

Read more here.

Conclusion

Usage of the term "income" is very far from uniform and unambiguous, so it should not be used in law without a definition and only a new Amendment can legally produce one. Since in Subtitle A of Title 26 it has been so used anyway, that Subtitle - the entire alleged "income tax" - is based upon a literally meaningless term and is, therefore, void.

Between a Rock and Ed Brown

Here's why the government has a dilemma in Plainfield, NH.

1. The obvious and peaceful way out of this standoff is for it to name, publicly and in detail ready for open scrutiny, the law that taxes what the Browns earned. Ed Brown has promised to surrender upon seeing that, and if the condition is met but he breaks his word, public opinion would swing firmly against him and force would then become an acceptable option.

Vote Paul for personal freedom

Tom Stiles, Warner

For the Monitor
September 25. 2007 12:16AM

For more than 220 years, U.S. soldiers have fought and died to protect the freedom intended in the Constitution. Do you feel that every day you are confronted with illegitimate personal and business federal regulation? U.S. Rep. Ron Paul serves to eliminate excessive government restrictions to our liberty and reinstate the powers enshrined in the Constitution to "we the people."

Dr. Ron Paul honors our Constitution as supreme law. The following positions distinguish him as a true statesman: voted no to the unconstitutional Iraq War Resolution; voted no to the Patriot Act and Military Commissions Act; voted no to the National ID card; supports restoring legitimate monetary policy; opposes nation building; supports an open and free internet; opposes NAFTA, GATT, SPP, CAFTA, and the WTO as threats to independence; opposes torture, Guantanamo Bay and extraordinary rendition; opposes the Veterans Disarmament Act (House Bill 2640); contests federal agencies created contrary to Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution as a violation of the Bill of Rights 10th Amendment.

Congressman Ron Paul, a Republican candidate for President, will work to restore the foundations of state sovereignty, personal freedom and self-determination.

Check the record. Join the revolution.

WTP Initiates National "Clean Elections" Lawsuit

Ten states are being sued to prevent the use of computerized voting systems during the 2008 primary and general elections and beyond. The lawsuit seeks to halt the use of machine-based voting systems and vote counting procedures that hide the ballots and the counting of votes from the People.

The complaint challenges the constitutionality of current voting procedures in the states, claiming that they "heighten the possibility of confusion, deception, frustration, and fraud." It contends that the existing practices are constitutionally deficient and prevent open, verifiable, transparent voting, and that the use of discredited electronic voting machines and flawed vote counting procedures drastically increase the likelihood of error and election fraud. The lawsuit calls for a visible chain of ballot custody with paper ballots kept in full public view throughout the voting, counting, and tallying process.

The lawsuit asks the Court to prohibit the states from conducting elections that are not open, verifiable, transparent and machine and computer free.

The Magna Carta and The British Terrorism Act

King John, on June 15, 1215, in Clause 61 - the ‘safety’ clause - of the Magna Carta legalised rebellion should he himself break the charter, and permitted the establishment, under those conditions, of a committee of 25 barons to supervise the government. The relevant section of Clause 61 reads:

“If we, our Chief Justice, our officials, or any of our servants offend in any respect against any man, or transgress any of the articles of the peace or of this security, and the offence is made known to four of the said twenty-five barons, they shall come to us - or in our absence from the kingdom to the chief justice - to declare it and claim immediate redress. If we, or in our absence abroad the Chief Justice, make no redress within forty days, reckoning from the day on which the offence was declared to us or to him, the four barons shall refer the matter to the rest of the twenty-five barons, who may distrain upon and assail us in every way possible, with the support of the whole community of the land, by seizing our castles, lands, possessions, or anything else saving only our own person and those of the queen and our children, until they have secured such redress as they have determined upon” (From The British Library’s Online Information Server)

Lex, Rex
by Rev. Samuel Rutherford

For the lawfulness of resistance in the matter of the king's unjust invasion of life and religion, we offer these arguments.

Arg. 1: That power which is obliged to command and rule justly and religiously for the good of the subjects, and is only set over the people on these conditions, and not absolutely, cannot tie the people to subjection without resistance, when the power is abused to the destruction of laws, religion, and the subjects. But all power of the law is thus obliged, (Rom. xiii. 4 ; Deut. xvii. 18-20 ; 2 Chron. xix. 6 ; Ps. cxxxii. 11, 12 ; lxxxix. 30, 31; 2 Sam. vii. 12 ; Jer. xvii. 24, 25,) and hath, and may be, abused by kings, to the destruction of laws, religion, and subjects. The proposition is clear. 1. For the powers that tie us to subjection only are of God. 2. Because to resist them, is to resist the ordinance of God. 3. Because they are not a terror to good works, but to evil. 4. Because they are God's ministers for our good, but abused powers are not of God, but of men, or not ordinances of God ; they are a terror to good works, not to evil ; they are not God's ministers for our good.

[Lex_Rex] NOT GUILTY! HUNG JURY! 189 IRS counts bite the dust in Las Vegas case

NOT GUILTY! HUNG JURY! 189 IRS counts bite the dust in Las Vegas case

Monday, September 17th 2007 - Christopher Hansen

I just got the call. Joel Hansen, the Independent American Party's attorney has informed me that of the 189 count indictment against 9 defendants the government did not get a single conviction. Several of the defendants were acquitted. The government was unable to convict any of the other defendants on any charge but did manage to hang the jury of five of the defendants so if they choose to the government can retry
those defendants.

Let us pray the government wastes no more tax dollars (whatever that is) on prosecuting these innocent men and women. It is the IRS and the judges in this case that deserve to be in prison. (More on that in articles to come.)

Alex Loglia's defense attorney is Joel Hansen. Joel was able to discover that the jury deadlocked 7 to acquit to 5 to convict on the charges against him. We do not have the numbers concerning the other defendants at this time.

This case has been very interesting as it is about gold and silver dollars minted since 1986 A.D. It is about the difference between a gold or silver dollars and a Federal Reserve Notes. It is about the meaning of words.

Blacks Law 6th addition states that notes are not money. So what is a Federal Reserve Note and why do you pay taxes with them? Taxes are to be paid in dollars. So what is a dollar? Have you asked your Congressman? You should. Write him or her today and
demand to know the legal definition of a dollar.

Robert Furman - Not Guilty all charges
Ronald Ruggles - Not Guilty all charges
Myra Buonomo - Not Guilty all charges
Joel Axberg - Not Guilty all charges

Debra Rosenbaum - Not Guilty 8 counts 7201, Hung on 371
Danielle Alires - Not Guilty 371, Hung on Bank fraud and 7201

Robert Kahre - Hung all counts
Lori Kahre-Rasmussen - Hung all counts
Alexander Loglia - Hung all counts

Editor's Note: "Lex Rex" means "The King Is Law". Samuel Rutherford's political book, Lex, Rex, presented a theory of limited government and constitutionalism. It laid the foundation for later political philosophers such as Thomas Hobbes and John Locke and thus for modern political systems such as that of the United States. After the Restoration, English authorities burned Lex, Rex and cited the author for high treason, which his death prevented from taking effect.

Rutherford supported the rule by law rather than rule by men, based on such concepts as the separation of powers and the covenant, a precursor to the social contract. His was also known for his spiritual and devotional works, such as Christ Dying and drawing Sinners to Himself and his Letters. Rutherford was a strong supporter of the divine right of Presbytery, the principle that the Bible calls for Presbyterian church government. Among his polemical works are Due Right of Presbyteries (1644), Lex, Rex (1644), and Free Disputation against Pretended Liberty of Conscience.

Ron Paul and the Role of Ideas in Class Conflict

Hands down this article illustrates incredible insight on the effect of the Ron Paul Revolution. It is the people versus the state. The people are slow to awaken but they will. This is one of the BEST articles I have ever read about the effects of Ron Paul and his message on our population and its future.

http://www.ronpaulforpresident2008.com/

"The Ron Paul presidential campaign has the potential to become the best thing that has happened to the cause of liberty since the fall of the Berlin Wall. The campaign may well develop into a mass education program spreading the ideas of liberty throughout the nation, exposing the only true class conflict in society, thereby giving rise to a populist grassroots movement sowing the seeds of revolution."

Was WTC7 a Controlled Demolition?

The view from BBC reporter Jane Standley's window was a spectacular mess. Thick plumes of smoke rose above the New York City skyline, blotting out sunlight and choking the morale of rescue workers trying to salvage human life from the wreckage of the just-collapsed World Trade Center.

It was the afternoon of September 11, 2001, and Standley was responding to questions posed by colleagues in England. "New York very much a city still in chaos," she said. "The phones are not working properly, the subway lines are not working properly, and we know that down there near the World Trade Center there are three schoools that are being turned into triage centres for emergency treatment."

Michael Anthony Peroutka, 2004 Constitution Party Presidential Candidate, Endorses Rep. Ron Paul

The following statement has been issued by Michael Anthony Peroutka, the Presidential candidate of the Constitution Party in 2004. He is also co-founder, with his brother Steve, of “Institute On The Constitution.” And he is co-host, with John Lofton, of “The American View” radio show.

I endorse Rep. Ron Paul for President. And I endorse him not because he is the lesser of two evils. A Christian can never endorse any kind of evil. I endorse Rep. Paul because — from a Christian/Biblical and Constitutional perspective – he is, by far, the best candidate running for President.

What can we do to prevent people from being tortured for asking good questions? More generally, how can we respond effectively to abuses of power, in an era when the authorities and the media they own are ignoring most forms of peaceful protest?

After spending many hours of conversation with Father Frank Morales of St. Mark's Church during my recent trip to New York, I think I have an answer.

Frank Morales (who now stands beside David Ray Griffin and Rev. Rich Lang in my pantheon of Christian heroes) has been struggling against military and police abuses of power almost since I was in diapers. In my interview with him on 9/8/07 (archived free at: http://www.republicbroadcasting.org/get_archive.php?hn=Barrett&yr=07 ) and in private conversations that kept us up till the wee hours, Frank brilliantly analyzed the trends toward martial law and police state tactics. He pointed out that protesting OUTSIDE THE HOMES of those who abuse their power has often been the most effective way to apply pressure on malfeasant police and other authorities. In New York, the mere threat of doing this has gotten immediate results.

So, inspired by Father Frank Morales, and horrified by the tasering of a young man who asked John Kerry some very good questions, I have created WHERETHEYLIVE.ORG (I have registered the domain name; anyone who wants to help build the site is welcome to contact me at kevin@mujca.com )

WHERETHEYLIVE.ORG is founded in the spirit of Thoreau, Gandhi, King, Abdul-Ghaffar Khan, and the many other heroes of principled nonviolent resistance. It will publicize the home addresses of those who are alleged to have seriously abused their power over others, for the purpose of facilitating NONVIOLENT demonstrations on public property outside those home addresses.

I just called the University of Florida Police Department at (352) 392-1111 to ask them for the names, home addresses and phone numbers of the officers who assaulted the young man. I was, of course, refused. The next step is to put out a call to everyone in or around the University of Florida to help us identify these officers and find out where they live. Their home addresses will be posted as soon as they are available and the website is up, and people in the area will be asked to show up to picket in front of their homes until these officers are fired and prosecuted for assault.

WHERETHEYLIVE.ORG will also seek and post home addresses of suspects in the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed on 9/11 and during the 9/11 wars. Each posting will include a summary of the evidence that the individual has seriously abused his or her power over others, along with the home address and a call to nonviolently picket that address.

2 plead innocent in helping N.H. tax-evading couple

CONCORD, N.H. — Two men pleaded innocent Thursday to charges of providing guns or other supplies to a fugitive couple convicted of tax evasion, while two other supporters of Ed and Elaine Brown were awaiting extradition to face the charges.

Wearing ankle chains, 40-year-old Daniel Riley of Cohoes, N.Y., and 50-year-old Robert Wolffe of Randolph, Vt., made separate, brief appearances in a federal courtroom to plead not guilty to charges of supporting the convicted couple during their self-imposed exile at their fortress-like home in Plainfield. Both were appointed lawyers for trials in November. Bail hearings were scheduled for Monday.

Man stays jailed in Browns case

He's accused of aiding tax-resisting couple

A Vermont man charged with helping Plainfield tax protesters Ed and Elaine Brown escape capture agreed yesterday to stay in jail until his November trial.

Prosecutors argued that Robert Wolffe, 50, of Randolph, Vt., had provided support to the Browns by lending them a car, acting as a conduit for supplies and spending time at their fortified home with weapons. According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Arnold Huftalen, Wolffe told investigators that he intended to fight and die for the Browns if marshals tried to capture them. He was one of four Brown supporters arrested by marshals last week.

Bloodied 70-year-old woman cuffed for having a brown lawn

OREM, Utah (AP) -- A 70-year-old woman arrested in a dispute over her brown lawn pleaded not guilty Tuesday, then stood by as a Los Angeles lawyer waved handcuffs for the cameras outside court.
Betty Perry, left, sits with attorney Gloria Allred in Utah's Fourth District Court on Tuesday in Orem, Utah.

Betty Perry is charged with resisting arrest and failing to maintain her landscaping, both misdemeanors.

She was arrested July 6 after failing to give her name to a police officer who visited her home.

During a struggle, Perry fell and injured her nose. She spent more than an hour in a holding cell before police released her.

"I ask the citizens of Orem: How many of you would like to have your great-grandmother taken from her home with bruises and blood and placed in handcuffs for failing to water her lawn?" attorney Gloria Allred said.

"Let's bring sanity back to law enforcement," she said.

The mayor and City Council apologized, and the police department said the situation could have been handled differently. But the city attorney still is pressing charges, and Perry is due back in court next month.

A state investigation found that Officer James Flygare acted properly in arresting Perry after trying to get her to cooperate.

Perry's water had been turned off for about nine months, at her request, although she was living at the house at the time of the arrest. Orem has a shutoff policy for people who are away for extended periods. Click here to read the original article.
