If you visit this link you will find an article, although a bit dated, on work being done to modernize the IRS computer system called the "Individual Master File ("IMF"). With all the evidence of
fraudulent entries and practices that I have observed with the IMF system, I think one of the problems not discussed is the problem the IRS would undoubtedly have in engaging outside contractors to evaluate the IMF system and fix problems without "letting the cat out of the bag" regarding the agency's fraudulent computer data entry and processing practices. Perhaps the IRS has no choice but to limp along with a computer system born during the Kennedy Administration rather than expose the fraudulent inner workings of the system to modern computer experts.
