Mark Yannone Leaves Libertarian Party

The goal is freedom. But the reason the Libertarian Party seems to get nowhere is that the LP has been bailing the sinking ship of liberty with a thimble while the federal, state, county, and municipal governments have been countering with fire hoses. By the time my voter registration is changed from Libertarian to Independent next week I will have been a member of the party for 18 years and 2 months. The last election showed that it's time to put away the thimbles and take axes to the fire hoses.

The freedom fighters--by joining the tiny Libertarian Party--have sequestered themselves from mainstream politics since the party was born--they are easily identified, easily ridiculed, easily avoided and ignored. Now the party is reacting by surrendering its principles to appear more mainstream when the opposite is required. Libertarians just have to remove their funny hat to appear more mainstream. I've done that. Now I'll keep my eye on the goal and continue to defend the sound principles.
