She fought for law, and the law won

by Mark Yannone

Marcy Brooks (bless her cotton socks), foreman of the jury that took on the IRS in the income tax trial of Whitey Harrell, relates some of the details of the trial and jury deliberations. Barely able to contain her emotion, she takes her audience back to the fateful yet inevitable decisions that shocked the judge and propelled her to international fame.

Whitey Harrell still had to pay his taxes, even though he avoided criminal conviction.

The jury didn't take on the IRS. It was a state tax case.

Furthermore, Whitey Harrell has since been indicted again for three counts of state tax fraud (same criminal charge, different tax years from the first case) and is awaiting criminal trial.

And yes, even though acquitted on criminal charges before, he still owed the taxes. Same with Lloyd Long, same with Vernice Kuglin.

Gentlemen, a couple of comments if you don't mind. Fred you are exactly right, I was not the foreperson - that was an assumption based upon my "outspokenness." :) Secondly, Whitey's object wasn't to avoid paying his taxes, it was to bring this issue to the public eye - which of course he accomplished. He is a patriot in the truest sense.
