Former IRS agent guilty of IRS scam

NORFOLK -- A former IRS agent and co-owner of a Carrolton convenience store faces up to 10 years in prison for scamming the IRS out of collecting taxes on more than $1.4 million.

Mohamed Hassan Soliman, 56, was convicted Thursday in U.S. District Court in Norfolk after pleading guilty to structuring financial transactions to evade IRS reporting requirements, said the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.
