To Mitch, apparently another person new to this area of research:

1. The purpose of the 16th Amendment was to correct a glitch in the 1909 Corporate Tax Statute.

2. Supreme Court rulings, never reversed (and shortly after the 16th Amendment), concluded that the Amendment "conferred NO NEW TAXING POWERS [emphasis added]" upon the Fed Govt.

Those of you just now jumping into this---please be aware that the members of the Tax Honesty Movement are well aware of the 16th Amendment AND USC Title 26, Subtitle A, Chapter 1.

You have to dig deeper.

Here's a start (and only a start): Google Joe Banister; Sherry Jackson; John Turner; Aaron Russo; Larken Rose; Tom Cryer; and/or Dave Champion.

Sincerely,
Scott

That is because the government has ALWAYS had the power to impose an income tax, See Article I, Section 8. The 16th Amendment merely cleared up a dispute that was going on then about whether apportionment was required for the income tax, and said that it was not.

So the income tax is perfectly legal. Nobody who matters disagrees, the ravings of a bunch of losers who don't have two nickels to rub together notwithstanding.

Now you may return to your job at at the tire shop.

To Joey:

I think you'd better re-read Article I, Section 8...and the rest of the Constitution, a document I've studied for almost 50 years.

Next, determine the meaning of "source" in the 16th Amendment. You'll find the definition in USC Title 26.

Next, there are several types of "income" tax, not just the individual income tax.

Finally...actually I'm retired...formerly was a college environmental science instructor.
Nice try, though, with the "tire shop" comment.

:)

Sincerely,
Scott

P.S. to Joey---

As if someone who works in a "tire shop" cannot also be intelligent, logical, and capable of library research.

You sound a bit elitist.

:)

Good night, and good luck.
