Tupper Saussy Dead
Acclaimed musician and self-proclaimed "Bill of Rights advocate" Frederick Tupper Saussy III, who eluded the federal government for a decade after a one-year tax evasion prison sentence, died Friday at his Belle Meade home from an apparent heart attack, family members said.
His novella and later play about greedy taxmen, entitled The Gimmies, began what he called a "religious war" with the Internal Revenue Service. In 1984 the IRS informed Mr. Saussy that he had failed to file tax returns for 1977-79. Read more
